Storage Architecture
SmartStyle Computing uses an innovative cloud file system to write data first to high performance cache, then to secondary cache, and finally to long term storage. This optimizes the read-write process for highly used data, significantly increasing system performance. Typically, CPU and memory are not the cause of slow system performance but rather the time it takes to access data on the hard drive. SmartStyle increases the data access performance from the typical 400 IOPS (Input / Output per Second) to 2000 IOPS. By optimizing the read-write process, SmartStyle performs three to four times faster than a traditional RAID-based solution.
Additionally, data is written not just across hard drives in one cloud server, but across hard drives in all cloud servers. This type of data redundancy provides protection when hard drives fail or if an entire cloud server goes down.
