  2. Log in to your BDR device.
  3. Find the last successful server backup.
  4. From the BDR, launch the Standby Server wizard.
  5. The wizard brings up your backup as a virtual server running on the BDR.
Backups continue to happen while hosting your server. You don't need to change the IP address or any other settings - it just works.

    A: Yes, the virtual machine performance may be slower depending on disk I/O. The virtual server itself may not be running on as much RAM as the physical server, resulting in slower performance.
  • Q: Can I bring up Standby Servers remotely?
    A: Absolutely, as long as BDR remote access is setup. Each BDR comes with remote control software for this purpose.
